Do you know there are many people who do not actually like babies? You might be thinking, is it possible to not just love these cute and lovely little things?
Take it from me, there are people who do not like babies because they believe babies mean a bundle of tantrums, nagging cries, screaming and all that! You can even find the persons who would instantly associate babies with biting!
Don’t blame them! Maybe every time they encountered a baby, all kinds of unpleasant things started taking place! Alice, one of my closest friends, used to suffer from such a baby-phobia and was dead against the idea of becoming a mother.
When everybody failed to convince her to have a baby with the glorified descriptions of motherhood, her husband Mike happened to stumble upon the Joseph Garcias celebrated book relating to the benefits of baby signing.
It was Mike who realized that the root of the problem lied elsewhere; Alice simply assumed that she would fail to handle the temper tantrums of the baby and that handling a frustrating and screaming baby would be a mess and that she will be total failure as a mother.
Now that mike had the Joseph Garcias SIGN with your BABY Complete Kit’, he explained to Alice that bringing up of child is not necessarily a stressful process and it can be actually fun if you can build up the right communication with your baby at an early age.
And baby-signing language opens up that channel through which you can communicate with your child long before he starts to talk.
But Alice was slightly skeptical, is it really possible to teach sign language to an infant child? Mike explained: the cries are actually a sort of expression of the infant babies.
They want something and since they do not have any other tool of communication at their disposal, they will let you know of their demands through their cries.
The same way they naturally learn to make certain gestures and facial expressions within a few months of their birth and they would use them to draw your attention.
Now teaching them sign language extends the range of their gestures that they start to use them as a tool of communication. If babies can communicate and get their needs fulfilled, no longer there will be frustrations and tantrums, and the lives of the parents would also be free of stress.
Alice was still skeptical that the early training in sign language may hinder her child from talking. But the latest researches have established the contrary that is sign language actually acts as a cue for language and it prompts your child to speak out at an early stage.
The sign language training helps the babies to correlate the signs with the words and as their vocal cords are matured enough to allow them to talk, they speak out the word instead of making gestures and gradually the words take over signs completely.
When parents and other persons who are part of the infant’s environment, all communicate in sign language with a nonverbal infant, it alleviates stress for everyone.
Thanks to Garcia’s findings, Alice was at last convinced of having her own baby. Today they are the proud parents of a beautiful baby girl!
The sign language had helped Alice to sail smoothly through the difficult days of infancy and she ceased to associate the babies with crying and tantrums because her own was a cheerful signing baby.
